Work Permit

Work Permits allow individuals to work temporarily in Canada. Work permits are either employer-specific work permits or open work permits. Eligibility requirements vary based on when an application is submitted and whether the applicant applies from outside or inside Canada. In addition, to receive a work permit, all applicants must meet the requirements below.

Requirements:

• Satisfy an officer of an intent to leave Canada upon expiry of the work permit
• Demonstrate sufficient funds to cover take care of oneself and family members
• Comply with the law
• Be healthy
• Not present a danger to Canada’s security
• Not intend to work for an employer who is ineligible as a result of non-compliance with conditions
• Provide employer with requested documents
